1. Gina Tunic in awning stripe, 0

This tunic is fantabulous. The material is a knit, with stretch and incredible drape. It is a thicker knit, so it's not for a muggy or extremely hot day. But this is why one buys a Tory tunic: this piece!

2. Tory Burch Reva flats in stripe, embossed snakeskin. Officially named Serena Flat 2, in striped snake.

TTS: I am wearing my usual US size 6. TB has relaxed the elastic at the back of the Revas a touch, I think, compared to the first few years. It's super comfortable on and there is zero slippage.

The shoes are perfect; standard Revas; cute.

I have many Reva pairs, though, and this one has not made me beholden by its beauty, so I think I'll be returning them.

3. Frances pant: printed silk pants, runway collection. Daisy, ivory, pink.

The best thing about these pants is the quality of the silk. I own all of Jcrew's silk shantung pants and other silk pants, but this was the easiest, softest, simplest, lightest printed silk trouser I have ever tried on. Even though it's lined in poly (why do they all do that), it was not hot. 

The pants hit me right at the ankle; they are meant to be cropped. I love the extra wide and long belt loops - a 60s touch. They open in front with a zipper and a tiny hook closure, like you have at the top of a neck opening usually. I found that very unusual. 

I didn't like them on me. They made me look a little squat. 

The leg has a slight bootcut shape.

4. I also  got the Lissa pants, which fit beautifully at the waist, are unlined and thin, all weather, drapey wool, with a ribbon of a tuxedo stripe down the side. They are a 35" inseam & impossible to photograph on me, but I think I'll be keeping (& tailoring) them.

Tory Burch Summer Sale Haul

First off, the Tory tunic in wedge wood blue. Beautiful colour, standard tailoring; hidden side zipper. The cloth is entirely summer appropriate and thus very sheer. Must wear a cami under.

I need your votes on which size to keep: a fitted 0 or a loose 2. Also, do you think it looks good anyway? 

I will update today with the other things I got in my order, but would love your input on the tunic for the mo!

You can judge sheerness by the pale link stripes showing through.  The pattern is a cotton cutout stuck on top of the standard grosgrain wide ribbon used for Tory tunics.

I'm wearing the size 0 here.

JCrew Collection Maxi in Hibiscus Print

I apologize to my readers: I didn't manage to take photos of this for you! It was a quick try on in a store dressing room.

Pros: 100% cotton; pockets; no cleavage ; square back that stays above the bra strap; hidden back zipper

Cons: voluminous cotton, so it's a bit stiff; large "armholes"; can't work for petites without some hemming.

Sizing: TTS In your normal blouse size. The dress is fitted at the bust, so you need to make sure you size correctly at the bust.

Verdict: the print didn't sing, printed in cotton; the dress was a touch too long; pass.

OOTD

Everlane cropped round neck tee; cropped sailor pants by JCrew (2013); Tory Burch Bernadette Flat shoes (2014)

I loved the look of cropped wider leg pants with these incredibly sharp and chic flats. I couldn't get the right angle to show that off to full effect, so you'll have to use your imagination a bit. I felt very Diabe Keaton in this outfit.

J Crew Studded Lace Up Gladiator Sandal, 6

Colour: bright gold

Pros: comfortable, thick sole, easy to put on (you need only adjust the laces once, and subsequently work to tie up the loose ends alone), lovely mirror metallic gold; gives a true gladiator vibe.

Cons: no cushioning in the insole. 

Sizing: TTS

Verdict: definite keepers. The gold is delicate and not at all OTT or cheap. They are delicate but sturdy and look beautiful with pants and maxis, alike. Total keepers.

Collection Silk Blazer in Iris Floral, 00

Ok, I made that name up, a bit.

This one's been marked down before I ever even noticed it, so I hopped to try it on.

Pros: silk outer, quality construction, longer length (like the new schoolboys) and slim cut.

Cons: fully lined - in polyester! Ugh. The print is a bit of a liability (see below). 

Sizing: in truth, my bust determines that my size should be zero in jackets and blazers. My shoulders want a 00. I have been sizing down to a 00 in all blazers for over two years now, bc I prefer a very tailored look. 

Verdict: the collar is under-lined in peach felt. Almost neon peach. The blue is a dark iris blue, the flowers are peach, pink and off white. The print and colours scream upholstery to me - of the kind in doctor's waiting rooms that I silently dislike while being subjected to it. This is old lady street ; mother of the bride; gross sofa in a room with peach walls. So why is it even mildly making me take pause?

Because it fits well, it's light in weight, and it seems to match the striped linen pants the best. I need your votes on this one!! Please help!

Trying to find alternatives in my wardrobe. I didn't try too hard. I think I'd go with my mint coloured moto leather jacket or white linen blazer, in the end. But which of the three above do you prefer?
